Ambitious............. But Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At 4.15pm on Sunday May 25th 2014, Alex Revell brought down a hopeful long pass from Ben Pringle out of the blue Wembley sky, turned, and struck a stupendous dipping volley over the despairing dive of Jamie Jones and into the top right hand corner of the Leyton Orient net.

Amid delirious celebrations he wheeled away in triumph, Rotherham United were level at 2-2 after being 2-0 down at half time.

Because of that amazing goal penalties were required in the league one play-off final, Adam Colin saved two, and The Millers were promoted to the Football League Championship for the first time in ten years.

Next season we will be visiting  Blackburn and Bolton instead of Bristol rovers and Bury, the Pro Ac of Derby instead of the BT net of Chessie. We will never tire of stating that we don't concern ourselves with lower league football.

Unfortunately Vicky was in New Zealand and, despite wanting to buy a £1400 ticket home, missed the greatest day in Rotherham Uniteds history. She did watch it on Sky after downloading a dodgy computer programme that thought she was in England. Her neighbours must have wondered what was happening when they heard screams and shouts at four in the morning.

But now she is back and we are going to try to get to as many games as possible in what should be an amazing campaign.

I hope to cover every game via this blog. The highs, the lows, the goals, the misses, the elation and despair. All the quirky little things that happen at a football game. Fat men ploughing through stewards, players squealing like pigs, Ian offering the ref his glasses. All the little quotes we overhear from fellow fans. Jed and Ray are sadly no longer with us having gone to that other place, the East stand, but Millers fans are always ready with an opinion.

It will be a roller coaster ride, the season kicks off on 9th August at Derby.

Bring it on!!
